APPLY - INFORMATION TO APPLICANTS
If you do not posses any acting experience, please don't let that stop you from applying, as very often we find that some of the most talented actors may not have had any previous experience, or the opportunity to show their ability before joining us.
AUDITIONS
People with the right attitude and enthusiasm will often be more appealing to us rather than someone with plenty of experience, so if you have both it's a double blessing. Please bring a passport photo with you to the audition - it's to remind us who you are.
SENIOR APPLICANTS (0VER 18'S) FOR THE 3 WEEK ACTING COURSE.
All new applicants will be offered a workshop based audition to allow you to work with other young people too. The workshops are designed to be entertaining, fun-filled, informal and informative. You will also have an individual audition, where you perform a speech from any theatre or screenplay, or one written by yourself or anyone else, and lasting no longer than 3 minutes when performed. So you will need to start looking for a good speech to perform. Make sure you completely learn the speech and are off-book. Try and choose something that suits you and emphasises positively your acting abilities. This gives you the chance to show us who you are and what you can do. So remember the audition is not a test of your ability, but to see that spark of talent. Please try and bring the whole play or screenplay, if you are doing a speech from there, if you can't, then please bring a copy of your speech.
JUNIOR APPLICANTS (UNDER 18'S) FOR THE 3 WEEK ACTING COURSE.
You will simply spend the morning in a group audition, followed by an informal chat to get to know a bit about who you are, how passionate you are about acting, and how well you will fit into the acting company. We also find it useful to find out what (if any) experience you have already in acting. But REMEMBER, we are not necessarily looking for people with acting experience. You will NOT need to prepare a speech.
WORKSHOPS
The workshops will involve physical movement, so please wear appropriate clothing and shoes to your audition. We welcome people with disabilities, so if you have any sort of access requirements, please let us know prior to your audition, so we can put in place the correct provisions for you.
AUDITION TIPS
RELAX and ENJOY yourself throughout the process - remember that everyone there will be in the same boat as you, so the more you throw yourself into the games in the audition, the more we will be able to see. We all know it's easy to say this, but very hard to do; but try not to be nervous!
AFTER THE AUDITION
We try our best to get in touch with you as soon as possible to let you know whether you have been successful on getting on our 3 Week Acting Course. We will contact you either via phone or e-mail, so please check your e-mails regularly!
SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS
Successful applicants embarking on our 3 Week Acting Course will be e-mailed or telephoned about their course time-table schedule or any unforeseen changes to the timetable. The course will take place at HOUSE NO. F874/2, 11th CLOSE, 14th LANE, KOALA DOWN, OSU, ACCRA. During the course you will be introduced to various acting disciplines, with emphasis on working as an ensemble.
